What to check before choosing

Visible fronts
An oak pattern does not make a unit natural wood. Compare it beside the floor and ask to see a finished edge as well as the flat sample.
Exposed areas
Joints and cut-outs deserve attention in kitchens and bathrooms. We specify the particular piece rather than relying on a broad claim of resistance.

Ask for materials and edge details in writing.
Where water reaches
Start with joints and openings near a basin or sink. If splashes are likely, the product and edge detail must be agreed before that construction is offered.
Cleaning in practice
Ask for care instructions for the selected surface. Trying a usual cleaner in an unobtrusive place can reveal marks or changes in sheen before they become a problem.
Painted or faced front
If you want a plain coloured door, compare painted MDF and melamine samples in the room. Manufacturing method and edge treatment change as well as appearance.
A timber look
A repeatable pattern may suit a run of units. If you prefer the variation of real grain, compare the same design with natural veneer.
